Food Service Manager

Secondary Responsibility to:
Principals and Superintendent of Schools

Job Goal:
To provide the students with attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth.  To understand and perform all tasks necessary to the operation of a School Food Service Program. The Food Service Worker / Kitchen Manager shall carry out the following performance tasks.

  1. Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food in the school cafeteria.
  2. Maintains records of food supplies and requisitions additional supplies as needed.
  3. Receives and supervises the storage of all goods received for the kitchen.
  4. Check food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
  5. Assess nutritional needs and plan special menus as required.
  6. Keeps accurate daily counts of number of students served.
  7. Maintains records for paying and exchange adult meals.
  8. Resolve customer complaints regarding child nutrition and report all incidents to Child Nutrition Director.
  9. Supervises the overall functions of the kitchen, provides for a cheerful, efficient and productive operation.
    1. Assign duties, responsibilities, and work stations to employees in accordance with work requirements
  10. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent and/or board may deem necessary.

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves standing most of the time, but will involve walking or sitting for extended periods
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important job aspects.

Terms of Employment:
This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will” and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues.

License Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Idaho Motor Vehicle Operator's License

Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Food Services who may consult with the building principals.
