KIMBERLY SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

October 1, 2020

Special Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order Myron Nield at 5:57 p.m. Present were trustees Mr. Giles, Mr. Allen, and Mr. Melvin. Dane Higdem was unable to attend. This meeting was conducted via ZOOM. 

 

AGENDA: Curits Giles moved to approve the special meeting agenda as submitted. Ryan Melvin seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0. 

 

 

RISE CHARTER SCHOOL PETITION: Keelie Campbell confirmed that communication has been distributed to the community as requested by the board. Information has been posted on the RISE website and social media pages, as well as on the district website. Information included the petition, FAQ and presentation. 

Curtis Giles moved to approve the RISE Charter School Petition, Ryan Melvin seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0.

 

REMOTE DAY FOR GRADE 9: The High School Administration is requesting that October 14th is a remote learning day for freshman as that day will be used for testing for the upper classmen (PSAT/SATS) and the staff will be needed to proctor for those students. 

Ryan Melvin moved to approve the remote day for 9th grade students, Chad Allen seconded. The motion carried 4-0.

 

KSD BOARD MEETINGS ZOOM/FACE TO FACE: Mr. Schroeder explained the pros and cons of Zoom vs. Face to Face, as well as, keeping the hybrid meeting which would include a little of both so that all patrons could participate. His suggestion includes utilizing the county infection rate metric as a guideline on when face to face meetings will take place. Anything over 2% per 10K on a 7 day rolling average will be on Zoom. 

Chad Allen moved to accept the plan as Mr. Schroeder outlined, Curtis Giles seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.

 

 

ADJOURNMENT: Curtis Giles moved to adjourn at 6:21 p.m. Ryan Melvin seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0.
