6th Grade Weekly Update March 31st - April 4th

Welcome to the KMS 6th

Grade Weekly Update!

We are in the final stretch of the year! Make sure to be talking to your teachers if you miss class to find out what things you need to make up!

-The Sixth-Grade Team

LANGUAGE ARTS:

In English, we will continue reading The Lightning Thief. Students have a chapter quiz that they will take in class following those chapter reads. On Wednesday/Thursday we will introduce a descriptive writing assignment where students will be asked to create unique, engaging descriptions about their dream homes. Before spring break, we discussed that AR goals will be cut off on May 9th this quarter because students will need to have all library materials returned by that date. I have tried to reflect this change in students AR goals this quarter. As always, if a student has concerns about their goal, I encourage them to come and discuss that with me. I hope you all had a wonderful spring break!

MATH:

In math, we'll finish Chapter 7 by applying what we learned about solving equations to solve inequalities. Then, we'll start Chapter 8 by exploring measures of central tendency in a data set. Anyone who missed the Chapter 7 can still come in and take it.

PACK:

This week we will be discussing school and classroom expectations. We only have 8 weeks left, but we still have work to do, so we will be talking about staying focused. We will also be conducting impromptu speeches. Students will pick a topic at random and then make a quick speech and deliver it on the same day. If you have questions please reach out.
