LANGUAGE ARTS:

This week for ELA we will be preparing for the ISAT. Your student’s final draft for their persuasive essay was due today for B-Day or will be due tomorrow for A-Day. Please read below regarding best practices to prepare for state testing.

Dear families,

Next week, April 10th and 11th, your child will begin taking our state standardized English test. Let’s work together to ensure your child has all the tools and support to do their best on the test!

Here’s a few things you can do to help prepare for the test:

Please make sure your child gets to school on time.

Make sure your child gets a good night of sleep.

Make sure your child eats a full, healthy breakfast or arrives to school early enough to eat in the cafeteria.

Ensure your child doesn’t bring any extra things with them to school (toys, etc.)

Speak positive affirmations to your child before testing. Let them know these tests are important for the student and for the teacher when assessing what will be taught next year. Also, let them know that no matter what I think they’re awesome! I have done my best to prepare your child for this assessment and I hope they will try their best on the day of the test.

Send an encouraging note with them the day of testing!

Thanks in advance for your help and encouragement. I truly adore these students and I can’t wait to see what they can do!

This week in math we'll continuing learning about algebraic expressions. We'll explore simplifying expressions, using the distributive property, and solving one-step equations. We're also practicing for the ISAT by solving math problems on paper and entering our answer on the computer with accuracy.

If students are not happy with their chapter 6 test, they can come see me after school for a redo to try and improve their score.
