Welcome to the KMS 6th Grade Weekly Update! 

The start of Fourth Quarter starts today! Finish off the rest of the year strong! You all will be receiving reports on Third Quarter Grades coming soon!

LANGUAGE ARTS: 

Welcome to a new quarter! Your students have been working hard on an argumentative essay that we started at the beginning of March. The rough draft is due on Canvas on Wednesday for A-Day and Thursday for B-Day. We will be editing the rough draft as well a prepping for the ISAT this week. The English ISAT begins on April 10th and 11th and will continue April 17th and 18th. We have also started a new ELA AR reading goal for quarter 4. Students will need to read two books in their reading level and pass their AR tests with a 70% or better by May 15th. Please reach out to me with any questions.

MATH: 

In math we are reviewing what we learned in chapter 6. We will have a test on Wednesday for A day and Thursday for B day. 

It's hard to believe that we're in the 4th quarter already! Math ISAT testing will be April 24th and 25th and May 1st and 2nd . Please plan to have students rested and at school on these days.

SCIENCE: 

Hey All, 

This week we will be starting our new unit on waves. Our first focus will be to learn about light waves and then we will transition into sound waves.  We will be taking notes on these things through out the next couple of weeks. SOCIAL STUDIES: 

Hey everyone! 

We will be wrapping up Latitude and Longitude this week! We will also be turning in both Bellringer Check #5 and our Latitude and Longitude assignment that we will be working on in class. Following that, we will be discussing what we are going to be finishing the year off with at the end of the week with Central and South American history.

STEM: 

Hello! I can hardly believe we have only 1 more quarter left this year! We have jumped into Unit 4, Biomechanics of the Human Body. On Friday April 31st and March 7th, we have guest instructors from the Twin Falls County 4-H program visiting our classroom with 3-D Pens. Students will work with partners to create a prosthetic prototype.
