Dear Families,
Here are a few specifics:
With only 2 weeks of school left, it can be easy for students to become complacent. Please continue to encourage your student to stay focused and finish strong—the learning doesn’t stop! Staying on top of grades, assignments, and effort is important as we wrap up the year.
If your family has plans to leave town early, please make sure your student completes all required work ahead of time. Assignments will not be exempt, and missing work may result in zeros.
We have a couple of fun events coming up:
On May 21st, Sources of Strength will host the annual SOS Carnival. Students can play games to earn Bulldog Bucks, which can be used to purchase treats or play additional games. Treats will also be available for $1. The dunk tank is always a favorite—$1 for 3 balls to try and dunk one of our teachers!
On May 22nd, students will attend our trip to Nat-Soo-Pah. The cost is $5.00 cash, required for all students attending. If this presents a financial hardship, please contact Mrs. Flameling in the KMS office. Students will need to bring lunch from home or sign up for a school lunch. Please also remember to send towels, sunscreen, and appropriate swimwear.

English: In English, we will be finishing The Lightning Thief and completing a vocabulary crossword assignment. Additionally, students will complete a creative writing assignment. As a final reminder, students will need to log 70 minutes per week in Beanstack this quarter to earn 100% on their Q4 Reading Minutes assignment.

Math: We'll continue to work on creating our board games. Missing work can still be completed and turned in. Please check Canvas to see what students are missing. Anything with zero points means it was not turned in. Let me know if you have questions.

Social Studies: Next week we are making our last big push toward the finish line for the school year! Students will be working on their maps on Monday (A-Day) and Tuesday (B-Day). I will be gone on May 11th and 12th, but students will continue working and preparing for their assessments. Students will have a test on Wednesday and Thursday covering their maps and notes. In addition, shoebox projects will be due on the 13th or 14th, depending on your child’s class day. Thank you so much for all of your help with the shoebox projects and for your continued support throughout the year. It has truly been appreciated!

Science: We will be covering two lessons from Life Science to round out the year. The first one will be on Oceans. This will follow our same format of notes, web quest, lab, and a video.

PACK: Next week will be a hodge podge week because I am gone for a training and will have a sub. The students will be doing some impromptu team speeches and in class problem solving assignments. Please reach out with questions or concerns.

STEM: In STEM this week, students will be working on their final project, where they will design and create a card for someone using a coin cell battery, foil tape, and an LED. Please bring supplies from home for Monday and Tuesday! No printing in the library this time! Cards are due on Wednesday (A-Day) and Thursday (B-Day). On Friday, students will take their final vocabulary quiz, B-Day will take their quiz on May 18th. Retakes will be available May 19th and 20th before or after school. Please make arrangements ahead of time if those dates do not work. Also, as we wrap up the year, please remind students to complete any missing bellringers if they have been absent. The last bellringer for credit will be on May 13th and 14th. I will only be available Monday - Wednesday this week for extra help. Thank you!

Por favor sigan animando a sus estudiantes a mantenerse enfocados y terminar fuerte—¡el aprendizaje no se detiene! Mantenerse al día con calificaciones, tareas y esfuerzo es muy importante mientras cerramos el año.
Si su familia tiene planes de salir de la ciudad antes de que termine la escuela, por favor asegúrense de que su estudiante complete todo el trabajo requerido con anticipación. Las tareas no serán exentas y el trabajo faltante puede resultar en ceros.
Tenemos algunos eventos divertidos que vienen pronto:

Los retakes estarán disponibles el 19 y 20 de mayo antes o después de clases. Por favor hagan planes con tiempo si esas fechas no funcionan. También, mientras cerramos el año, recuerden a los estudiantes completar cualquier bellringer faltante si estuvieron ausentes. El último bellringer con crédito será el 13 y 14 de mayo.
