KIMBERLY SCHOOL BOARD MEETING October 13, 2021 7:00 p.m.

 

Special Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order by Myron Nield at 7:06 p.m. Present were trustees Mr. Giles, Mr. Allen and Mr. Zachary. Mr. Melvin was absent. Also in attendance were Mr. Schroeder, Superintendent; Mr. Schvaneveldt, Director of Programs; Ms. Searby, District Clerk; Mrs. Ahern, Special Education Director; Mr. Murillo, Kimberly Middle School Vice-Principal; and Mr. White, Kimberly High School Principal.

 

Mr. Allen moved to enter into executive session at 7:06 p.m.  Mr. Giles seconded the motion. The motion carried 4–0. Roll call, Mr. Allen - yes, Mr. Giles - yes, Mr. Nield- yes, and Mr. Kelsey - yes.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

Pursuant to Idaho Code Section 33-205 and 74-206(1) the Kimberly Board met in Executive session to discuss one or more of the following: (a) & (b) consider personnel matters; (c) deliberate regarding labor negotiations or acquisition of an interest in real property which is not owned by a public agency (d) to consider records exempt by law from public inspection; (e) consider preliminary negotiation involving matters of trade or commerce in which this governing body is in competition with another governing body; (f) communicate with legal counsel regarding pending imminently-likely litigation; (i) communicate with risk manager/insurer regarding pending/imminently-likely claims; and 74-206(2) conduct labor negotiations. EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS MAY BE DISCUSSED AND ACTED UPON, IF APPROPRIATE, IN OPEN SESSION. Only bolded items will be discussed.

 

At 10:47 p.m. Mr. Kelsey moved to exit executive session and Mr. Giles seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0.

 

OPEN SESSION

 

CONSIDER BOARD DECISION FOR STUDENT X: Curtis Giles moved to accept the recommendation from the administration and expel Student X for the remainder of the 2021-2022 School Year. Student X will still be eligible to receive education services remotely. Zack Kelsey seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0. Such action shall be documented in the student’s educational record and is confidential pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable state and federal code and regulation provisions.

 

 

ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Kelsey moved to adjourn at 10:48 p.m. Mr. Giles seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0.
