The meeting was called to order by Mr. Nield at 6:00 p.m. Present were trustees, Mr. Allen, Mr. Giles, Mr.

Ward and Mr. Kelsey. Also, in attendance: Mr. Schroeder, Superintendent, Ms. Searby, District Clerk, Mr. Schvaneveldt, Program Director and Dr. Melvin, former board member.

AGENDA: Mr. Allen moved to approve the special meeting agenda. Mr. Kelsey seconded his motion. The motion carried 4-0.

SWEAR IN ZONE 3 TRUSTEE: Rex Ward was sworn in as the new Zone 3 Board Trustee.

CURRENT COVID CASES: Mr. Schroeder updated the board rise in current covid cases and explained that KSD is seeing an uptick this week with higher numbers than what we have seen in the past. All departments are proactively planning in the event that school need to go remote or close due to illness. Thus far, student attendance is holding strong at 93% and staff coverage has not been an issue thanks to our healthy substitute pool. All board members agreed that administration will continue to monitor numbers, encourage masks when in group settings and possibly look at building by building closure if absolutely necessary. No action was taken.

CDC EXCLUSION GUIDELINES: Mr. Allen moved to update the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction plan to align new CDC exclusion guidelines with the following changes:

Staff and Students who have tested positive for COVID will be now given three options:

  • Excluded for 10 days from onset of symptoms.
  • Excluded for 5 days from onset of symptoms. May return if no presence of fever (without fever reducing medication) with face covering for five additional days while at work/school.
  • Provide negative COVID test from a licensed healthcare provider/licensed lab.

Mr. Allen also moved to strike any verbiage that references “presumed positive” cases. Mr. Kelsey seconded the motion. The motion carried 5-0.

ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Kelsey moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:53 PM and Mr. Allen seconded the motion. The motion carried 5-0.
