Performing Arts Teacher (Theatre) – 2026–2027 School Year

Kimberly School District is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Performing Arts Teacher to lead a comprehensive theatre class aligned with our after-school theatre program. This position is ideal for an educator passionate about developing students’ creativity, confidence, and technical theatre skills through both classroom instruction and live performance.


Position Overview

The Performing Arts Teacher will deliver engaging instruction across a range of theatre disciplines while supporting school productions and the after-school theatre program.

This is a one-class-period assignment during first semester only, making it an excellent part-time opportunity with meaningful impact. The course emphasizes both performance and technical theatre, providing students with hands-on experience in all aspects of production.

Compensation:

  • 5% certified teaching contract (one semester)
  • Based on the district’s certified salary schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach acting techniques, scene study, and character development
  • Introduce set design and construction
  • Provide instruction in costume design, makeup, and wardrobe
  • Teach fundamentals of lighting and sound design, including equipment operation
  • Guide students in script analysis, stage direction, and production planning
  • Collaborate with the after-school theatre program, including rehearsals and performances
  • Promote teamwork, responsibility, and professionalism
  • Incorporate stage management and props design
  • Create opportunities for student leadership and hands-on learning
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom and performance environment

Qualifications

  • Valid teaching credentials or ability to obtain certification
  • Background or experience in theatre or performing arts
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with students, staff, and community members
  • Experience with school or community theatre productions preferred
