KMS News

What unpredictable weather we have—the students will be glad when it is warm and stays warm. However, many of us are also not very fond of the 100 plus degree temperatures in the summer either. Changing weather is just another reminder that we do live in Idaho.
Speaking of change, students have recently completed explaining their academic performance to their parents at the spring student-led conferences. This proved to be highly successful with our best parent participation ever. Student-led conferences encourage students to take ownership of their education and develop leadership skills. After students led their presentations, parents were free to visit with teachers to get clarification or just say hello.
Students are also busy taking the spring ISAT exams from April 14th to May 9th. Please be sure your child has plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast so that these scores can be used in conjunction with other assessments to determine your child’s academic strengths and areas needing improvement. It would be much appreciated if scheduling of appointments can be avoided on test days; please call the office to have us check for specific testing dates if needed. Students will know their preliminary scores as soon as they complete each test; however, written reports will not be available until after June 13th. These will be given out during fall registration on August 11th and 12th.
The middle school would appreciate having a parent volunteer attend PTSO meetings each month and then meet with the principal and/or staff to coordinate activities and keep the organization informed about KMS happenings. If you would like to get involved in the school, please let us know. We would like to increase parent involvement at the middle school level and are looking for ways to do so.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at (208) 423-4170 extension 3207.
Let ’s have a great spring and finish to the 2007-8 school year!

Letha
