October 2011 Meeting Minutes

Meeting Agenda

PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES

ROTUNDA OF THE ROUND BUILDING
3:45 P.M.
October 24, 2011

Present: Deb Rongen, Polly Hulsey, Matt Schvaneveldt, Sara Tolman, Justine Schloessler, Angela Jackson, Linda Reese, Jean Shawver, Luke Schroeder, Michelle Sturgill, Lori Coombs, Pam Seibel, Kathleen Noh

The committee decided to keep the meeting time at 3:45 p.m. so that parents had time to get their children home before the meeting.

It was the consensus that the new busing plan was an improvement. There are still some
congestion issues at the middle and high school. It was suggested that the arrows at the middle
school driveway be repainted.

Power school is not sending out the automatic e-mails to parents. The Tech Department is working on this with Power School personnel. The e-mail situation is better. If the teacher sends an e-mail first, generally e-mail correspondence works well. Teachers need to check their junk mail to be sure that parent correspondence isn’t caught in the filter.

The committee reviewed the parent questionnaires that will be used to provide input on teacher evaluation. Copies of the proposed questionnaire are attached. It was suggested that the questionnaire be made available online as well as at parent-teacher conferences.

The premiere of the video An Anatomy of a Vehicular Manslaughter will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. at the Roper Auditorium. This is a 42 minute film about a tragic car accident that happened several years ago in Jerome County. It is a powerful message about the dangers of distracted driving. Judge Borresen will present this video at high school assemblies in January if requested to do so by the principal.

The next meeting will be on November 28 at 3:45 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
