NOTICE OF SPECIAL SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY ELECTION
Kimberly School District #414
Twin Falls County, Idaho
Public Notice is hereby given according to law, and the requisite action
of the Board of Trustees of Kimberly School District #414, Twin Falls County
Idaho,
that a special supplemental levy election will be held on Tuesday,
May 20, 2008, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said District
their vote and determination on a supplemental tax levy.
The polls will be open from Noon until 8:00 p.m. at the following location:
Kimberly High School
885 Center Street West
Kimberly, ID 83341
An elector must be a registered voter who has resided in this state and in
this school district at least thirty (30) days preceding the election.
The question submitted will be:
“Shall the Board of Trustees of Kimberly School District #414, Twin
Falls County, Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a supplemental levy
as permitted by law, in the amount of $275,000.00 (Two Hundred Seventy-Five
Thousand Dollars and 00/100’s), per year for two years for the purpose
of paying all lawful expenses of maintaining and operating the schools of the
District for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2008, and ending June 30, 2010?
ANSWER:
For supplemental levy of $275,000 YES______
For supplemental levy of $275,000 NO_______
The voter may express his/her vote by making an “X” opposite the
word on his/her ballot which expresses his/her choice.
Qualified electors who expect to be absent from the District on May 20, 2008,
or who will be unable, because of physical disability or blindness, to go to
a polling place, may vote by absentee ballot. Written application for an absentee
ballot may be made to the Clerk of the Board of Trustees on a form made available
at the Kimberly School District Office, 141 Center Street West, Kimberly, Idaho
on Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Such application must
be made not later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008. Electors applying
in person may obtain their ballots starting Monday, May 12, 2008. Electors
applying by mail should submit their requests as soon as possible. The absentee
ballot must be received by the Clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of
the election.

KHS Girls learn about Careers in Technology
Girls in Technology was held in the Magic Valley on March 4. The three-year
program encourages high school females to enroll in math, science and technology
programs. Individual field trips and speakers representing various businesses
demonstrate the necessity of math, science and technology in the work world
today and in their future career possibilities.
Karen Arteaga, Cassandra Mendoza and Stacy King went to INL for the day,
chaperoned by Mrs. Egersdorf. Second year participants spent the day at
either Magic Valley Regional Medial Center, Dell Call Center, U of I Kimberly
Research Center, or the U.S. Forest Service.

Ski Club

The ski/snowboard club elected new officers for the 2008-09
school year. Vice-President-Cody Martin, Secretary/Treasurer-Gentry Funk,
and President-Nic Jayo.
The end of the year pizza party will be at Gertie's on Monday, April
28, at 7:00 p.m. All members planning on attending the pizza party need
to let Mrs. Shawver know as soon as possible.
Grand Prize Economic Summit Winners
Congratulations to Team Kenya for winning the grand prize at the Economic
Summit yesterday at CSI. Team members were Edie Jones, Shailey Sievers, Mercedes
Reeves, and Brandon Dixon. Kenya also won the costume award and the debate
portion of the contest.
Winning third place in the economic debate was North Korea represented by
Taylor Christensen, Keegan Brady, and Jessica Buntain.
Ranked in the top ten for economic proposal and presenting for the summit
was Canada – Mitchell Overacre, Jake Baithavong, Andy Yung, and Katie
Hafer.
Jamaica – represented by Sarah King, Samantha Sartain, Emma Jones,
and Kelsy Yung - placed 5th overall; and Bahrain – represented by Jenny
Olsen, Hailey Harris, Ryan Cornie, and Kelsey Molyneux, placed 9th overall.
Congratulations to all teams! Kimberly was very successful and represented
our school very well in this event.
