Microsoft CertificationTo achieve the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) status, you must pass only one Microsoft Certification exam. However, since most advanced certification tracks require a mastery of Microsoft's "core" server operating systems, the exam number 70-210 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional is the suggested starting point, followed by exam 70-215 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 track are required to pass five core exams and two elective exams that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. ClassworkHands-on networking practice is vital to success in any administration class. In order to leave sufficient time for labs and practice, each Microsoft exam area will take one semester to master. Therefore, it should take one semester to acheive the first MCP certification, then up to six additional semesters to compete the MCSE. It is common for students to complete the first one to three classes in high school, then finish the remaining certification classes in college or on-the-job training.ReferencesThe Microsoft Training and Certificaton Center is the official clearinghouse for Microsoft Certification information, exam requirements, other certification tracks, and study aids.
