Welcome to the K.E.S. Library!Students visit the library with their class once a week. They may also come in on their own during any recess and before and after school to check out books. Books are checked out for a two week period, but may be renewed. We do not charge fines, unless the book is damaged beyond repair or lost, but the students may not check out more books if they have one or more books overdue. Kindergarten students listen to one or two stories. They then do a project that is related to the stories. Students in grades 1, 2, and 3 listen to a story. Afterwards we have a short discussion about the book. Often this is followed with a pop-up book which is a favorite with all students. Fourth and fifth graders have a lesson to complete during library time. The lessons are short, but must be completed during library. They are given a letter grade for library. If their score on a paper is below 75, they are encouraged to correct their mistakes and turn it in to get half credit added to their score. We usually enter the scores in the gradebook the same day it is turned in. You may check their library grades using PowerSchool.
